Here it is again Siclista's.
Ride with Francis and the RBR this Sunday. Same place and same time like last March 2nd. 9AM at the Veterans parking lot.
2nd RBR ride
pic from the first ride
Meet at Newark Java for an 8AM roll. If we can leave earlier than 8AM the better since it took us almost an hour to get to the VA parking lot last month.

Sad, untimely deaths in bay area cycling.
I was still in LV when I read the very sad news regarding the two cyclists who died in an accident just this Sunday, where a deputy patrol car crossed a double yellow divider near Stevens Creek/Montebello, and collided head-on with the cyclists. It is indeed very sad that this has happened to two promising athletes, but indeed any nonsensical death or injury to anyone (pro, amateur, recreational rider) is one loss too many. Let us hold these two dear souls in our prayers, for their loved ones let us console them through our thoughts and kind words. The whole incident is still under investigation - the latest unofficial word is that the deputy fell asleep while driving.
Last week before all this happened, I was reading an article on professional rider David Zabriskie and he mentions in an interview how he has been involved in several car-bike accidents. Dave has ridden, trained in all parts of the world, but these accidents have all happened in the US of A. He is still feeling residual pain and limited movement on one of his legs from an accident where he broke several bones. There seems to be something in our culture where cyclists are more at risk than in any other place. I would like to extend heartfelt sympathy to the families and friends of our fallen fellow-cyclists.

Solvang Century
The Solvang Century ride started out with morining fog. Within 1/2 hour of starting the ride it pretty much cleared up and we had a wonderful day. The designated reststops had adequate facilities and stock well with food and drink. Sag support IMHO leaned toward minimal. Traffic control provided by CHP made crossing the intersections a breeze. Headwind & crosswind was abundant on this ride. Climbs were not too difficult. Our group comprised 10 riders from Siclista and Tropa riders.

7 Pound bike
Unbelievable but true. A 7 pound bike that you can really ride. These weight weenies are really going for it.
Brent Ruegamer built one that was about 8 pounds first.

RoadBikeReview Ride
The RoadBikeReview Ride hosted by Francis was a blast. The ride back across Dumbarton Bridge with the headwind/crosswind was unbelievable!
Jack suffered a mishap on Canada Road when a young boy turned suddenly into his path. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
Raymond & Cesar, thanks for pull on the last leg.
Romy, it was my pleasure to give you a draft whenever possible. BTW thanks for lunch too!
The pics that Francis posted are mapped out below on EveryTrail just to give you an idea where they where taken.
Here are the stats of the ride based on my Garmin:
Total Distance: 61.92 miles
Total Time: 4hr 28min
Average Speed: 13.8 mph
Total Ascent: 2543 ft
Total Descent: 2525ft

Tour of California
Tour of California video clip. Late but still good. Not to forget BobbyG's generosity for providing everything from tent, seat, wireless coverage of the tour and food, of course the booze too. And he did it not only once but twice, at the Prologue and Stage 3.
